SOLD!! Wonderful Mexican Full weight 13.41 g. Four reale from the 1739 shipwreck of the Rooswijk. The Rooswijk was a Dutch East Indiaman which was in route to the Indies when it sank on the Goodwin Sands off the coast of England. It had cargo and coins from Mexico with which to purchase goods to take back to the Netherlands. This coin is virtually as struck. The obverse bears the royal shield and crown of Philip V of Spain.
To the left is the oM Mintmark and the R Assayer’s Mark, with the date 729 in the upper left. The reverse features the Florenzada Cross with lions and castles unique to Mexico. Dated coins from this are rare. The original saver certificate of authenticity is included
