Product Description

Signal cannons were used as messengers between ships at sea or mountains in South America. They were placed on the rail of a ship or on a rock and fired off with a loud report which could be heard for miles, signaling other ships or other people of their whereabouts. They were also  used to fire a small mortar round, and the small ones were even used as hand grenades. The small group came up from South America years ago. This one, number six, Weighs 81 Troy ounces and is 3 3/4 Inches tall and 3 5/8 inches wide at the base. Powder was loaded in the bore and packed, And the touch, The small hole  seen at the bottom of the first picture, had fire applied to it which set The Cannon off. Rare and hardly seen.
