This silver Two Reale was minted at the Potosi Mint by the famed dyslexic Assayer Juan Ximenez de Tapia, who made many errors and reversals in minting his coins. The obverse of the coin features the royal shield and crown of Phillip III of Spain. The mint mark P is to the left and the assayer’s Mark T is below. The denomination is to the right in Roman numerals II. The reverse features the crusaders cross with lions and castles. The date 621 is easily visible in the upper left quadrant above the castle. Dated two reale grade one coins sell for $5950 and up at the Fisher museum in Key West. Mostly up. This one has the original certificate of authenticity with hologram and seal. This is one of the rarer dates of those found on the Atocha.
