Product Description

This is a rare beautiful nearly full weight, grade 1,  2 reale (6.1 grams) from the Potosi Mint. This cob was struck in the 1580s by Juan Ballesteros of Atocha fame. Grade 1's is the very best you can hope for. It has the very typical flat strike of that period because the planchettes were large and thin. The obverse features the royal shield and crown of Philip II of Spain. The mintmark P it’s to the left with the assayers mark B below. To the right is the denomination in Roman numerals II. The reverse features the Crusaders Cross with lions and castles.  These coins have been $6900 for years at the museum in Key West, but they have recently gone up, just over $9000, in anticipation of the 400th anniversary of the sinking of the Atocha on September 6, 1622.  Right now coins from this fabulous shipwreck are the hottest thing on the market. Don’t miss out on this great coin. It comes With the certificate of authenticity and is guaranteed to be genuine. Prices are just going to keep going up. This can be yours for the old price of $4700. Don't miss out on owning this beautiful rare piece of history.
