Product Description

This beautiful nearly full weight (6.39 grams) Potosi Mint cob was struck in the 1580s by Juan Ballesteros of Atocha fame. It has an exceptional but very typical flat strike of that period because the planchettes were large and thin. The obverse features the royal shield and crown of Philip II of Spain. The mintmark P is to the left with the assayers mark B below. To the right is the denomination in Roman numerals II. The reverse features the Crusaders Cross with lions and castles. ThIs coin has been given the very rare grade of Grade One plus. At the Fishers Museum this usually adds $3000 to the price of a grade one coin. Grade 1+ plus coins have been $7900 plus for years at the museum in Key West depending on weight and markings,  but they have recently gone up to over $9000 in anticipation of the 400th anniversary of the sinking of the Atocha on September 6, 1622. With the grade 1+ this coin was given, it would make this a $12,000 coin. Right now coins from this fabulous shipwreck are the hottest thing on the market. Don’t miss out on this great coin. It comes With the certificate of authenticity and is guaranteed to be genuine. Buy it now for the old price of $5,900.
